According to the Clarksons platform, Panama has 16% of the world maritime fleet at the end of December 2022 with 8,650 registered ships, which is equivalent to 245 million GRT. In a statement, the Panama Maritime Authority (AMP) states that «the international market and the maritime industry continue to choose the Panama Ship Registry, because it has the support of an entire nation, being a Government Registry, managed by the Panama Maritime Authority (AMP), which provides guarantees to the ship owner and its fleet. In addition, it offers official assistance to its clients in terms of legal security, diplomatic and judicial support, which differentiates the Panamanian registry from the others”.
