Fiscal benefits
- Customs entry occurs when the goods are removed from the free zone.
- A bond is not required for goods in a Free Zone.
- Foreign and domestic goods can be placed in a Free Zone.
- Tariffs must be paid only at the exit of the Free Zone, for consumption in Panama City.
- Foreign goods are not taxed, just as national goods that are going to be exported are not taxed.
- Manufacturing is allowed within the Free Zone. Customs duties are paid on imported components or on the finished product, whichever has the lower rate. Taxes are not paid on waste material and manufacturing value added such as labor, overhead and profit.
- The tariff rate and the value of the goods can be determined at the time of admission to a Free Zone or at the time of departure of the goods, at the discretion of the user.
- Unlimited storage period
- Goods can be: classified, destroyed, cleaned, classified, labeled, packed, manufactured, displayed, sold and repackaged.
- Household goods can be admitted without customs permission and mixed with foreign goods
